Illustrator Martine Delerm
by Marjorie Lazaro on avr.26, 2010, under Illustrations

When I was a kid, one of the first real book I read all by myself was « The Little Prince » by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. I loved the story of course, my mind could wander with the sheep… But I also loved the illustrations.

Montreal has a huge collection of books at the National library, I came across a book called « Somnambulettes« . This is a piece of art that you have to share with kids and adults.
The poems are illustrated with pastels watercolors that are just full of delicacy and sweetness. Intrigued by it’s author and illustrator, I started to look around.
Martine Delerm is french and used to be a french teacher. Then she started to write and draw to my great pleasure.

As a tribute to this great artist and also because I need to practice, I decided to do a little illustration.
Here is a little view of her cover-books to give you an idea:

Zoé (1999)

Fragiles (2001)

Un arbre dans la lune (2003)

Funambule (2007)

Barnabé, peintre d’ombres (2009)
